Braindead ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS screen time management application ("the App").
Key Privacy Promise: We collect and process almost nothing directly. Nearly all user data is stored and managed by Apple's CloudKit service, meaning we don't have direct access to your personal data on our servers.
Data We Collect
1. CloudKit-Stored Data (Managed by Apple)
All of the following data is stored exclusively in Apple's CloudKit and is managed by Apple, not us:
- User Profile Information:
- Username (chosen by you)
- User ID (generated by Apple's CloudKit)
- Account creation and last update timestamps
- Screen Time Session Data:
- Daily brain rot scores (calculated from your estimated screen time)
- Selected character/avatar choice
- Social Features Data:
- Friend connections and requests
- Leaderboard participation data
- Friend usernames and scores
Important: This data is stored in Apple's CloudKit Public Database to enable social features like leaderboards and friend connections. Apple handles all data storage, backup, and security. We do not have direct access to this data on our own servers.
2. Local Device Data (Never Transmitted)
The following data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Screen Time API Data: We use Apple's Screen Time APIs to enable app blocking functionality, but we do not collect, store, or transmit your actual screen time usage data. Apple's system handles all blocking and monitoring.
- Local App Preferences: Settings and preferences stored in your device's local storage using UserDefaults and App Group containers.
- Device Activity Monitoring: Used only for app blocking functionality; no usage data is collected or transmitted.
3. Subscription Data (Handled by Third Parties)
- Payment Information: All subscription payments are processed by Apple (via App Store) or Superwall. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card information.
- Subscription Analytics: Superwall may collect anonymous analytics about subscription events (purchases, cancellations) but does not share personal information with us.
4. Technical Data We Collect
We collect minimal technical data:
- App Performance Data: Basic crash reports and performance metrics to improve app stability
- Anonymous Usage Analytics: Anonymous data about feature usage to improve the app experience
